Los parques nacionales de Maryland son extensos y variados, abarcan sitios históricos, cordilleras y rutas panorámicas. Todos son considerados tesoros locales y dan al visitante una perspectiva de la rica historia y topografía del área.

Guía para Maryland parques nacionales

Los parques nacionales de Maryland EUA recorren todo el espectro, desde los campos de batalla de la Guerra Civil hasta las costas insulares. Vaya de excursión o acampe admirando el paisaje del Catoctin Mountain Park o visite las playas en Assateague Island National Seashore, que abarca tanto Maryland como Virginia y es uno de los pocos lugares en el país en donde los caballos salvajes corren libremente.

Un destino favorito para las familias es Glen Echo Park, ubicado cerca de la frontera entre Maryland y Washington, que es uno más de los muchos sitios para visitar a lo largo del George Washington Memorial Parkway. A lo largo del condado Frederick situado al oeste de Maryland, se encuentran las montañas Catoctin (80 Kms. de ellas son parte de las Montañas Blue Ridge). Sus Colinas y suaves picos se elevan hasta 580 metros sobre el nivel del mar y ofrecen a sus visitantes una gran variedad de actividades recreativas como pesca, excursionismo y campismo. Para llevar a cabo estas actividades sugerimos visitar los parques Catoctin Mountain Park o Cunningham Falls State Park,ambos reconocidos por su belleza natural y agradables paseos familiares.

La carretera Catoctin Mountain Scenic Byway une ambos parques y es la manera más sencilla de explorarlos. El recorrido está lleno de verdes tierras de cultivo y sitios históricos. Si usted prefiere no manejar puede tomar el tren “Western Maryland Scenic Railroad” que lleva a sus pasajeros de Cumberland a Frostburg en un hermoso recorrido de 52 kilómetros.

El centro vacacional Wisp Resort es el destino de Ski de Maryland. En sus escarpadas laderas “cross-country”, se practican diferentes tipos de Ski como el “snowboarding”, “snowshoeing” y “snow tubing”.
